WELCOME TO THE
DEPARTMENT OF FUNDAMENTAL DISCIPLINES

is the principal unit of the ISM. It was organized on the basis of the order of the ISM No. 15 dated September 11, 2006. Like other departments, the department is responsible for the specialization of students, being an educational and research division. The main function of the department is to ensure the implementation of the training program and its substantially informative content. The substantially informative content of the training program is determined by the disciplines included in the department. The following disciplines are fixed as being the competence of  the Department: Biochemistry, Normal physiology, Pharmacology. All disciplines of the department are basic for students of the higher medical school.

The establishment of a diagnosis of the disease and the administration of an adequate treatment include a number of mental operations, beginning with the selection of symptoms from  many thousands of diagnostic signs known to modern medicine. Selected symptoms form a clinical picture, which serves as the basis for them to make conclusions about the nature of the disease and, finally, establish diagnosis that’s used as a reference point for determining the methods of treatment. The nature of the disease, as well as the targets and mechanisms of therapeutic actions are described in terms and concepts of normal physiology, biochemistry and pharmacology. It should be noted that for clinicians it is the integral knowledge of these disciplines that is important: only together they provide a description and understanding of the nature of diseases, the normal states of the organism and the action of therapeutic measures.
